In a major development related to the Ahmedabad plane crash, which killed 278 people, investigators have found a second black box from the cockpit area of the crashed aircraft. This black box is officially known as the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) and it can give vital information about the final conversations and sounds in the cockpit before the crash.
The crash occurred in the Meghaninagar area of Ahmedabad, where the plane fell near a mess, hostel, and residential buildings, killing 241 passengers on board and other nearby residents.
Earlier, the investigation team had already recovered the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) from the tail section of the aircraft. Now, the discovery of the cockpit black box is expected to reveal the actual cause of the crash. The voice recordings from the cockpit will help investigators understand what happened during the final moments of the flight.
PM Modi’s Principal Secretary Confirms the Discovery
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Principal Secretary, P.K. Mishra, confirmed the finding of the cockpit voice recorder. He visited the crash site in Meghaninagar on Sunday and also went to Civil Hospital Ahmedabad, where the injured passengers and residents are being treated.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is currently leading the investigation, and officials said both black boxes the CVR and FDR will now be analysed together to uncover the truth.
This discovery is seen as a big breakthrough in the investigation. Officials believe that the combination of voice data and flight data will finally explain why such a large scale disaster happened, and whether there was any technical failure, human error, or other cause.
