Following heightened safety concerns after the recent Ahmedabad plane crash, Air India has cancelled eight flights today, including four international and four domestic routes. The sudden cancellations have caused inconvenience to passengers at airports across the country.
According to Air India’s official statement, the cancellations were made due to a combination of technical checks, bad weather, and airspace restrictions. The airline assured that all affected passengers will receive full refunds, options for rescheduling, and assistance with alternate travel arrangements.

Cancelled Domestic Flights
- AI878 – Pune to Delhi
- AI456 – Ahmedabad to Delhi
- AI571 – Chennai to Mumbai
- AI2872 – Hyderabad to Mumbai
Flights from Ahmedabad, Chennai, Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, and Mumbai were among those impacted. Passengers were seen struggling with last-minute changes at major airports, with many expressing frustration over lack of early communication.
Air India also mentioned that the decision was taken under maintenance and operational protocols, especially as Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft services have been temporarily reduced. The airline reiterated its commitment to passenger safety and said its team is actively working to accommodate those affected.
Air India Suspends More Routes Temporarily
In a related development, Air India announced the suspension of multiple international flights from June 21 to July 15, citing ongoing safety reviews and air traffic restrictions. This includes a temporary cut in the operation of select wide-body aircraft.
