Apple Nudity Detection Feature in FaceTime Will Stop Calls to Protect Users

Apple Nudity Detection Feature

Apple is now adding its Nudity Detection Feature to FaceTime. The company aims to protect users from inappropriate content during video calls. If nudity is detected, the call will automatically pause, and users will see a warning message. They can then choose to continue or end the call.

How Apple’s Nudity Detection Feature Works

Apple first introduced this feature in its Messages and AirDrop. It now plans to expand it to video calls with iOS 26. If a person shows nudity during a FaceTime call, the app will immediately pause the video. A message will appear warning the user about the harmful content. The user can then either accept or decline to continue the call.

This safety feature is especially helpful for teenagers and young users. Apple created it to prevent sexual harassment and protect privacy.

Private Content Stays Secure

Apple confirmed that the Nudity Detection Feature will work entirely on the user’s device. It won’t send any images or videos to Apple’s servers. This means even if someone shares personal content, Apple won’t store or view it.

All processing, whether for Messages, AirDrop, Photos, or now FaceTime, happens on the phone only, keeping the user’s privacy safe.

Helps Protect from Video Call Scams

Many people receive random FaceTime calls from strangers. Sometimes these calls are part of scams or honey traps, where victims are blackmailed using screen recordings. Apple’s warning system can stop such situations.

If the user sees a warning about nudity, they may choose to end the call immediately. This can help prevent fraud, blackmail, and emotional harm.

When Will It Be Available?

This new feature will come with the iOS 26 update. Initially created to protect teenagers, the feature is now expected to be rolled out for all users.
