New Delhi, 19 June 2025 – Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has been discharged from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi after receiving treatment for an abdominal (stomach) infection.
The 78-year-old Sonia Gandhi was admitted on 15 June and spent four days in the hospital. Senior doctors, including the hospital’s chairman Dr Ajay Swaroop, said she responded well to medication and her condition is now stable
She has been discharged and will continue to receive treatment on an outpatient basis,” Dr Swaroop confirmed
The medical team, led by Dr S Nundy and Dr Amitabh Yadav, also noted that the infection was under control and that she improved steadily over the past few days
This marks her second hospital visit this month. Earlier, on 7 June, she was admitted to IGMC Hospital in Shimla for a routine check-up and briefly stayed before being discharged
Sonia Gandhi will now continue her recovery at home, visiting the hospital as needed. There has been no official Congress statement yet, but updates are expected once she resumes her public duties.
