Google Opens New Security Engineering Center in India

To strengthen its cybersecurity operations, Google has announced a new Security Engineering Center in India. This center will work along with existing ones in Dublin, Munich, and Malang. The Indian center will collaborate with government departments, colleges, and small businesses to find solutions to cyber threats.

Government Collaboration and DigiWatch Partnership

Google is currently partnering with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre and the Ministry of Home Affairs’ DigiWatch scheme. DigiWatch, launched in 2023, monitors suspicious financial apps and helps stop online loan frauds. Together, Google and the government aim to build strong awareness against cybercrime.

Heavy Use of AI in Online Safety

Google is making strong use of AI tools to protect users. Globally, Google has removed millions of fake ads and ad accounts. In India alone, AI is now protecting over 50 million messages per month through its messaging platforms.

Strong Protection in Google Pay

Google Pay, one of India’s top UPI apps, has added many safety features. It issued warnings on 41 million risky transactions, helping users avoid fraud. In just one year, Google also prevented 60 million fraud attempts and removed over 2.2 lakh risky apps from more than 1.3 crore devices through Google Play Protect.
