Corona infection is rising again in Gujarat. The number of active Covid-19 cases has crossed 1100, and the first death of this outbreak has been reported in Rajkot. A 55-year-old man, who had been showing Covid symptoms for four days, died during treatment at the Civil Hospital in Rajkot on Monday, June 9. He also had diabetes and other health conditions.
235 New Cases in 24 Hours
In the last 24 hours, 235 new corona cases have been reported in Gujarat. With this, the total number of active Covid-19 cases has reached 1109:
- 33 patients are hospitalized
- 1076 are under home isolation
- 106 patients recovered and discharged
Rajkot city alone has crossed 100 total cases, raising local concern.
India-Wide Covid Status
As per the Union Health Ministry, there are 6,491 active Covid cases in India:
- 624 patients recovered in the last 24 hours
- No new deaths were recorded in the past day
- 65 deaths have been recorded nationwide since January 2025
- 6,861 patients have recovered this year
Earlier on Sunday, 6 deaths were reported in a single day, showing that the situation can change quickly.
Public Alert Issued
Authorities are urging people to:
- Follow Covid protocols
- Avoid crowded places
- Wear masks if unwell
- Get tested if symptoms appear
The Health Department has warned that patients with comorbidities like diabetes are at higher risk and must take extra precautions.
