Home Minister Amit Shah Visits Chhattisgarh Focus on Strengthening Anti-Maoist Strategy

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is visiting Chhattisgarh today (Sunday) for an important two-day trip. During this visit, he will lead a high-level review meeting on the ongoing operations against Maoist (Naxal-Free India) violence. The main focus of the meeting will be on how to fully implement the Centre’s strategy to wipe out Maoist influence by the target deadline of 31st March, 2026.

During this trip, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will take part in several key programmes aimed at strengthening security and scientific infrastructure. To begin with, he will lay the foundation stone for the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) campus and one of the country’s most high-tech forensic labs in Sector-2 of Nava Raipur. This university, run by the Government of India in Gujarat, offers education and training in areas like forensic science, criminology, investigative research, and forensic psychology. With this, Chhattisgarh is set to get a major boost in scientific investigation capabilities.

The proposed world-class campus will be built on 40 acres of land already allotted by the state government. The project is estimated to cost around ₹350 to ₹400 crore, and the entire funding is being provided by the Central Government.

After that, Amit Shah will hold an important meeting in Nava Raipur with the DGPs and ADGPs of Chhattisgarh and neighbouring states to discuss the strategy for anti-Naxal operations. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai will also attend this high-level meeting. They will also talk about the state government’s new strategies, including the surrender and rehabilitation policy, which was recently praised during Shah’s meeting with CM Sai in Delhi.

Amit Shah to Meet Villagers in Abujhmad Area

In the evening, Amit Shah will stay overnight in Raipur. On the next day, 23rd June, he will directly interact with villagers in the Abujhmad region of Bastar an area that has been affected by Naxal violence for many years. He will also hold a meeting with BSF jawans there, have lunch with them, and listen to their experiences from the ground. This visit is seen as an important step to boost the morale of the forces and gather real-time feedback from the field.

This visit holds special importance as Shah has set a deadline to eliminate Naxalism from the country by 2026. Since the formation of the BJP government, 427 Naxals have reportedly been killed in Chhattisgarh, and over 350 encounters have taken place in just the last three months. In April, Amit Shah also attended the closing ceremony of the Bastar Pandum festival, where he reviewed anti-Naxal operations. Even then, he had clearly said that the joint efforts of the Centre and State have brought the Naxal problem to its final phase.
