Amid growing border tensions between India and Pakistan, the Gujarat government has stepped up security measures in Jamnagar, a strategically important district located close to the International Border. This district is also home to all three branches of the Indian Armed Forces – the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
To improve public safety and emergency response, the Jamnagar administration has started installing 100 emergency sirens in coastal villages. These sirens will help alert people quickly during natural disasters, enemy threats, or blackout situations.
“We are installing sirens in about 100 coastal villages to enhance public alertness and emergency preparedness,” said District Collector Ketan Thakkar.
“So far, 55 sirens have been installed in high-priority areas near the coastline, and the rest will be set up after completing the surveys.”
Urban Alert System Also Upgraded
In Jamnagar city, there were earlier reports during Operation Sindoor where sirens could not be heard during a blackout. In response, the administration has now installed new sirens at 11 different urban locations. These have been specially placed considering the city’s geography, and all sirens are now fully functional. Authorities say the system is ready to send out quick alerts if the situation worsens.
In a separate incident from the Padra region, police have arrested a man named Sameer Hussain Ghanchi, a resident of Sokhdakhurd village, for allegedly posting anti-national content online.
According to the police, he was sharing provocative, obscene, and offensive posts that insulted the Indian national flag and posed a threat to the country’s unity. After receiving a tip, police swiftly conducted a raid at his residence and arrested him.
A case has been filed under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) for insulting national symbols and engaging in anti-national activities.
“We will not tolerate any action that harms the sovereignty or unity of India,” said a senior police official from Padra. Strict legal action will be taken against those who misuse social media to spread hate or incite violence.
