A major encounter took place early this morning in the Birhordera forest near Gomia in Bokaro district, Jharkhand. The clash happened between security forces and Maoists during a search operation.

  • Gunfight in a dense forest
Around 5:30 AM, a joint team of CRPF and elite CoBRA commandos was patrolling the forest when Maoists suddenly opened fire.
The forces responded immediately, and a heavy exchange of bullets followed. In this gunfight, two Maoists were killed on the spot.
  • CRPF jawan martyred
Unfortunately, one brave CoBRA jawan also lost his life in the encounter. His sacrifice shows the risks faced by security personnel during such operations in Naxal-affected areas.
  • Operation still underway
After the firing stopped, the forces began a detailed search of the forest to check for more Maoists hiding nearby.
They are also collecting weapons, materials, and any clues left behind to understand the Maoist movement in the area.
  • Part of the anti-Maoist strategy
This Jharkhand encounter is part of a larger anti-Maoist campaign in India. States like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha continue to see such operations as the government pushes back against Maoist violence.
  • Public safety and vigilance
Locals have been asked to stay alert and avoid forest areas for some days. Security in the region has been increased to prevent further attacks or retaliation.

The Jharkhand encounter shows the bravery of our forces and the challenges they face daily. While two Maoists were neutralised, the nation mourns the loss of a dedicated jawan. Operations like this remind us of the need for constant vigilance in disturbed regions.
