India’s First 9000 HP Locomotive Engine at Dahod

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his Gujarat visit, dedicated the country’s first 9000 HP electric locomotive engine to the nation at Dahod. The high-power engine is a major step in boosting India’s railway strength and industrial capacity.

Along with this, PM Modi also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several important railway infrastructure projects worth INR 23,292 crore across Gujarat.

Major Railway Projects Inaugurated:

  • Doubling of rail lines on Anand–Godhra, Mehsana–Palanpur, and Rajkot–Hadmatiya routes
  • Electrification of the 107 km Sabarmati–Botad railway line
  • Gauge conversion of the Kalol–Kadi–Katosan rail route

These projects aim to improve connectivity, boost rail capacity, and reduce travel time for both passengers and freight across Gujarat.

Water Supply Projects for Dahod and Mahisagar

To provide safe drinking water to residents of Dahod and Mahisagar districts, PM Modi also inaugurated four group water supply improvement schemes worth ₹181 crore.

These schemes are expected to benefit thousands of rural households by ensuring a clean and continuous water supply in these tribal and semi-urban regions.

PM Modi’s visit highlights the government’s ongoing push for railway modernisation and rural development in Gujarat. The new locomotive facility and infrastructure upgrades are expected to create jobs and enhance logistics efficiency across the state.
