WhatsApp will soon let users personalize their chats in a whole new way. In its latest Android beta update (v2.25.19.11), WhatsApp has introduced a new feature powered by Meta AI. This will allow users to generate chat wallpapers using AI prompts, giving more creative control to the user and enhancing the overall chat experience.
Users to Get Creative Control with Meta AI
Earlier, users could only pick from a limited set of static background images. Now, with Meta AI integration, users will be able to generate unique wallpapers simply by typing commands. For example, a user can ask for a “sunset beach view” or a “futuristic neon theme”, and the AI will create that wallpaper instantly.
This feature is currently under testing in WhatsApp’s beta program for Android users. The option will be available under Chat Theme Settings, where users can either pick from the existing wallpapers or use Meta AI to generate a new one based on their text input.
Custom Themes for Individuals and Groups
According to reports, users will be able to set different wallpapers for individual chats, groups, and even channels. This allows for a deeper level of personalization, where you can set a different theme depending on your relationship or conversation style with that person.
Meta aims to provide users with complete creative freedom. By allowing wallpapers generated from imagination, Meta is moving control from its developers to the users themselves.
AI Wallpapers Designed From User Prompts
Once users enter their text command in the wallpaper generation tool, Meta AI will generate several wallpaper options. Users can then select their preferred style or regenerate more designs based on their preferences.

Currently, users can set images from their gallery, but the AI wallpaper feature takes it a step further, enabling fully imaginative and dynamic backgrounds that reflect the user’s mood, personality, or chat tone.
This feature is expected to roll out gradually once it exits the beta phase. Meta has not yet confirmed the official launch date for all users.
